My peas are doing pretty good. They seem to be loving the weather we've had lately. Even when we had the heavy rain they didn't mind, as I have them tucked under the patio where they still get sunlight, but not all the bad weather.
I've had to stick some trellis and such in those pots as well as the onions. I didn't do this because they were getting big, but instead because of stupid cats. A lot of people around here let their cats roam around and they like to use my planters as their litter box. They couldn't go and bother the planters that are sitting there empty. No, they had to go for the ones with the nice fluffy dirt that were filled with seedlings. Hopefully my onions make it, as they were tore up pretty good. The peas, thankfully, were just knocked around a bit.
I've learned when I direct plant seeds outside that I have to do this same sort of thing - usually I just use extra panels from storage cubes, like I did with the onions. It keeps the cats out, but lets all the light and water in. Otherwise I plant a whole container of carrots seeds only to find out that they've all been torn out by cats.
